And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Karelin circles away.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Karelin has eaten all the pies!

Karelin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gunn!
Gunn's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gunn takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Karelin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Karelin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Gunn working to try and regain half guard.
Karelin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Karelin with a couple of short strikes.
Karelin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Gunn tries to hold on but Karelin pushes him away.

Karelin get's back to his feet.
Gunn doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Karelin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Karelin cracks Gunn with a solid left hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gunn looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Karelin sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Karelin stops Gunn from standing up.
Karelin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gunn is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Karelin content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gunn has locked up a guillotine! Gunn's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Karelin is holding on here and Gunn must be using up a lot of energy. Karelin has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gunn gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
