Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Haawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Keller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ronnie Haawa!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Keller.
The ground and pound from Keller seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Keller wants to stand but Haawa has his arm trapped.
Haawa prevents Keller from improving position.
Keller sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Haawa is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Keller trying to control the action but Haawa is working from the bottom.

Keller is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Haawa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Keller decides to stand back up. Keller steps back and let's Haawa get back to his feet.
Keller displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Haawa.

Keller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Keller wants to pass the guard but Haawa is keeping the position.
Keller postures up in Haawa's guard and throws a big left but Haawa blocks it.

Keller has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Haawa seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Keller wants to get up but he can't break Haawa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Keller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Haawa blocking the ground and pound.

Keller thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Keller wants to control the pace but Haawa is squirming around nicely.
Haawa sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Haawa is staying active underneath Keller, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Keller dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Keller changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Haawa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The strikes coming from Keller are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Keller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haawa keeps working.
Keller tries to advance to mount but Haawa denies him.
Keller looks up at the clock and then as Haawa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Keller smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Keller stands up and beckons Haawa to his feet.

Keller fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Haawa moves out of range of the body kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Haawa checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Haawa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Keller!
Keller on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Keller tries to get out of the position.
Haawa thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Keller tries to hold on but Haawa pushes him away.
Haawa tries to control but Keller wriggling away.

Haawa is breathing heavily.
Keller wants to hold on but Haawa pushes him away.

Haawa stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
No joy there for Haawa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Keller takes the fight into the clinch.

Keller is trying to trip Haawa. He has hold of a leg but Haawa is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Keller persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Keller stays in close to Haawa's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Keller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Haawa pulls Keller in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Keller trying to control the position from guard on top but Haawa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Haawa has Keller pulled in close to control his posture.
Haawa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Haawa has a closed guard, preventing Keller from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Keller will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

John Keller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Keller is looking for a sweep. Haawa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Haawa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Keller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Keller is working hard here to advance position.

Keller throws Haawa to one side and escapes!

Keller gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Keller manages to break the clinch.

Haawa clinches up against the cage.

Keller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Keller swats away the attempt to clinch by Haawa.

Keller shoots for a double leg takedown but Haawa sprawls well. He's pushed Keller's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Keller. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Haawa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Keller won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Haawa wants to control but Keller is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Keller is trying to control Haawa's posture but Haawa avoids it.
Haawa controls the position.
Keller is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Haawa working the ground and pound but Keller is defending the strikes.
Keller is trying to improve his position.
Keller knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Haawa on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Keller tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Haawa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Haawa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Keller's guard now.
Keller wants to stand but Haawa is controlling the position.
Keller looking to control.
Haawa is stalling in the full guard.
Keller keeping moving, preventing Haawa from controlling successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ronnie Haawa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Keller has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
