PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roger Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Cypress Hill - Tequila Sunrise as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesus Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Nelson.
Sanchez misses with the combination.
Nelson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nelson keeps Sanchez at a distance using the push kick.
Nelson throws a leg kick which misses Sanchez's front leg but catches the back leg as Sanchez tries to avoid it.
Nice body kick from Nelson.
Nelson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sanchez.
Nelson wants to clinch.
Sanchez misses with a straight right.
Nelson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sanchez.

Nelson forces Sanchez back against the cage and clinches.
Nelson throws a knee to the head but misses.
Sanchez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sanchez tries to score a body lock takedown but Nelson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Sanchez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nelson connects with a body shot.
Sanchez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nelson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanchez keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Nelson punishes Sanchez's body with a nice straight punch.
Jesus Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sanchez moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sanchez blocks a head kick by Nelson.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanchez misses the shot to the body.

Nelson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sanchez to the mat! Sanchez manages to get full guard.
Nelson controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sanchez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nelson manages to get himself to full guard.
Nelson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sanchez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nelson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sanchez's guard.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nelson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Nelson stands and throws Sanchez's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Nelson lands a few punches from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nelson off and has taken his back!

Sanchez is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Nelson has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sanchez has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Nelson taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sanchez doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jesus Sanchez!
