Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sung Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylvester Hoodoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sung Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sylvester Hoodoo!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoodoo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kim moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kim scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kim fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Hoodoo misses the target.
Kim dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kim fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoodoo avoids it really well and circles away.
Hoodoo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Kim counters with a shoot takedown. Hoodoo fights it but they end up in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hoodoo's guard.
Hoodoo is pulling down on Kim's head. It's preventing any offense from Kim, at least for the moment.
Kim wants to stand but Hoodoo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kim thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kim wants to pass the guard but Hoodoo is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hoodoo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hoodoo stuffs the takedown attempt from Kim. Kim gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sung Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hoodoo misses with a double jab.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hoodoo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kim counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kim.
Kim with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hoodoo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kim controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hoodoo is controlling Kim's posture.
Kim controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hoodoo looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoodoo, not yet.

Kim is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hoodoo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hoodoo has escaped and now he's on top!

Kim isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hoodoo stacks Kim on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hoodoo!
Kim tries to buck Hoodoo off but Hoodoo is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kim is not content to let Hoodoo control the position.
Kim is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kim manages to get to full guard.
Hoodoo looking to pass the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sung Kim dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Donk. Kim catches Hoodoo right on the button with a cross.
A nice combination there by Hoodoo.

and Kim counters with a body kick that stops Hoodoo in his tracks momentarily.
Hoodoo throws a series of punches but Kim moves out of range.
Hoodoo misses with a combination
and Kim counters with a low kick, right behind Hoodoo 's knee.
Hoodoo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kim counters with a leg kick.
Hoodoo misses with a double jab
and Kim counters with a nice uppercut.
Kim fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hoodoo throws a combination. Kim tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kim throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Kim drives through and clinches with Hoodoo against the cage.
Kim is working for takedown but Hoodoo is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sung Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hoodoo prevents it.
Hoodoo is looking to control Kim's arms but Kim gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hoodoo has his back to the cage.

Hoodoo stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Kim fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Hoodoo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kim regains guard immediately.
Hoodoo is breathing heavily.
Kim is trying to keep Hoodoo in close.

Hoodoo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hoodoo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kim has his foot on Hoodoo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hoodoo works his way back into a safe position though.
Hoodoo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hoodoo trying to control the position from guard on top but Kim is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kim trying to keep a closed guard but Hoodoo is proving a slippery customer.

Kim is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Hoodoo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Hoodoo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kim counters with a body kick.
Hoodoo shoots for a double leg takedown but Kim sprawls well. He's pushed Hoodoo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hoodoo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kim counters with a one-two to the body.
Kim tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoodoo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hoodoo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kim fails with the takedown.

Kim gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hoodoo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hoodoo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kim wants to sweep here but Hoodoo controlling him for the moment.
Sung Kim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hoodoo wants to control from the top but Kim keeps moving.
Sylvester Hoodoo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kim is on top in guard.
Kim wants to stand but Hoodoo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kim stands up over Hoodoo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoodoo wants to sweep here but Kim controlling him for the moment.
Kim won't allow Hoodoo to get back to his feet.
Kim in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kim decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hoodoo, up you get!

Hoodoo tries to keep at a distance but Kim has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kim tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hoodoo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Kim successfully pulls guard.
Kim lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hoodoo!
Kim trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kim throwing strikes here but Hoodoo is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Sung Kim is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sung Kim showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kim has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
