The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polak fails with a takedown attempt.

Lacerda decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Polak tries to kick Lacerda off but Lacerda keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lacerda wants to take a breather but Polak is having none of it.
Lacerda moves nicely into side control.
Lacerda is looking to take a break and control but Polak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lacerda looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Polak is avoiding damage well.

Lacerda decides to stand back up. Lacerda steps back and let's Polak get back to his feet.

It looks like Blazej Polak has been cut.

Lacerda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Polak sprawls well initially but Lacerda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lacerda is trying to control. Polak wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lacerda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Lacerda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lacerda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Polak for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Genival Lacerda.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lacerda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Polak napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lacerda looks up at the clock and then as Polak takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lacerda smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Lacerda creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Polak sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Polak prevents Lacerda from improving position.

Lacerda has hold of Polak's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Polak tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lacerda cranks the arm and Polak screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Polak, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
