The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soikkeli fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
willy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
willy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Soikkeli swats him away and circles back towards the center.
willy lands a nice hook to Soikkeli's body. Soikkeli takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Soikkeli fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. willy sprawls well initially but Soikkeli persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Harri Soikkeli will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

willy grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Soikkeli is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Soikkeli gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Soikkeli gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Soikkeli apologises and we restart here on the feet.
willy is breathing heavily.

willy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - willy lands in his opponent's guard.
Soikkeli looking to hit a scissor sweep but willy is one step ahead there.

willy wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Soikkeli's closed guard. He's half up but Soikkeli has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Soikkeli pivots and extends the arm, willy falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Soikkeli! Well done that man!
