PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johny Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johny Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonny Chapman!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bravo defends it nicely.
Chapman shoots in and drives through. Bravo sprawls well.
No luck for Chapman with that takedown attempt.
Johny Bravo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Chapman.
Chapman looks for a takedown but Bravo sprawls well.

Bravo pushes Chapman up against the ropes in a clinch.
Chapman tries to circle away but Bravo has him pinned against the ropes.
Chapman tries to score a body lock takedown but Bravo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Chapman has momentary wrist control but Bravo slips an elbow through the middle.

Bravo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Chapman throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bravo uses it to pass to side control.

Chapman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bravo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chapman looks gassed!
Chapman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bravo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Chapman tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Chapman looking very determined here, making life difficult for Bravo.
Bravo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bravo controls the action.
Bravo tries to get the hooks in deep but Chapman pushed the leg off.
Bravo has the hooks in. Chapman is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Chapman is keeping busy.

Bravo keeps control of the position as Chapman tries to break free.
Bravo controlling from the back.
Bravo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Chapman for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Johny Bravo just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Bravo with a poor takedown

and Chapman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bravo's guard now.

Bravo working for a triangle but Chapman defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jonny Chapman will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chapman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bravo counters with a slapping leg kick.
Johny Bravo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Bravo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bravo.

Bravo goes for a takedown in the clinch but Chapman prevents it.
Bravo is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Chapman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
A frustrated look appears on Chapman's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bravo presses Chapman against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Chapman has his takedown stuffed

and Bravo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chapman!
Chapman bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Chapman wants to get up but he can't break Bravo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Chapman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bravo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bravo has escaped and now he's on top!

Bravo is looking to advance position but Chapman won't allow it.
Bravo prevents Chapman from standing back up.
Chapman is refusing to be controlled, as Bravo sits in half guard.
Bravo stops Chapman from getting back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bravo works his way into side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bravo wants to control but Chapman is keeping him busy.
Chapman is looking to get back to his feet here but Bravo is keeping cool and he's managed to take Chapman's back.
Bravo tries to get the hooks in deep but Chapman pushed the leg off.
Chapman is in bad spot here.

Bravo punishes Chapman with strikes from the back mount.
Bravo is hanging on to Chapman's back as he tries to escape.
Will Bravo go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Chapman is trying to get back to his feet but Bravo has full control of the position and if anything, Chapman has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
I really don't envy Chapman right now.
