Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Marciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by What's the difference. Marciano has chosen REDEMPTION SONG as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Marciano!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marciano tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and James is able to avoid easily.
Marciano misses with a two punch combination.
Don Marciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marciano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
James takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
James slips a jab and a cross from Marciano.
A combination from Marciano does no damage.
Marciano slaps away a takedown attempt from James, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marciano shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Marciano keeps James at a distance using the push kick.

James takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James misses with a body shot.
Marciano lands with a slapping head kick.
Marciano misses with a hook. James ducked under it nicely.
Marciano cracks the inside of James's front leg.
A slow jab from James misses its intended target.
Marciano will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Marciano throws a shot from downtown. James moves away and avoids it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
James misses with some ground and pound and Marciano recovers position to half guard.

Marciano is doing well to control the position and prevent James from advancing to side control.
James moves into full mount! Marciano won't be happy about that!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
James sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Marciano wants to control but James is having none of it.
Marciano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marciano holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as James tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Poor strikes thrown by James there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Marciano is squirming around, avoiding James's attempts to control the action.
Marciano tries to lock up and control but James gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

James throws some wild stikes that Marciano manages to avoid easily.
Marciano bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

James uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Marciano.
Marciano throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Marciano connects with a looping right hand.
Marciano scores with a jab to the jaw.
Don Marciano seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Marciano tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James slips a jab and a cross from Marciano.

Marciano sizes up James with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Marciano catches James with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Marciano lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

enabling James to counter with a crisp jab.
James tests Marciano's chin there with a solid looking shot.
James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Marciano.
Marciano scores with the left hand. James knows he should have avoided that one.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
James misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Marciano wants to control but James postures up.
Marciano is trying to improve his position.
Marciano stops James from passing to mount.
James taking a break here but Marciano is having none of it and regains half guard.
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marciano keeps working.

James scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Marciano is trying to control but can't.
James with the ground and pound but Marciano uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Marciano must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Marciano ducks under a wild hook from James.
James shoots in looking for a takedown. Marciano tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marciano manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Marciano. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rip James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Marciano is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Marciano tries to stand but James is controlling from the bottom.
Marciano wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.

James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marciano defends well.

Rip James showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Marciano has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
