The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparring misses with a few strikes there.
Werdum throws a head kick but Sparring moves out of range.
Sparring goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Werdum fails to land the takedown.
No luck for Werdum with that takedown attempt.

It looks like Fabricio Werdum has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sparring gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Werdum is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Werdum tries to free his leg and advance position but Sparring is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Werdum gets to his feet - Sparring follows without any prompting.

Sparring lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Werdum circles away quickly and effectively.
Boxing Sparring is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Werdum throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sparring counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Werdum is breathing heavily.
Sparring throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Sparring tries to bum rush Werdum with a series of wild strikes but Werdum uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sparring lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sparring lands with a big left! Werdum is wobbled badly! Sparring comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Werdum to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
