Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kato Aspenia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger D Roger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roger is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jedi Mind Tricks - On the Eve of War (Instrumental). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kato Aspenia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roger D Roger!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aspenia lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Roger circles away quickly and effectively.
Kato Aspenia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roger avoids a punch combination nicely.
Aspenia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
No joy there for Aspenia, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Roger scores with a body shot.
Aspenia throws a sloppy body shot
and Aspenia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Roger dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Aspenia misses with a shot to the body

and Roger counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Aspenia keeping moving, preventing Roger from controlling successfully.
Roger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Roger postures up in Aspenia's guard and throws a big left but Aspenia blocks it.

Roger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Roger postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Roger is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Aspenia on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aspenia tries to get out of the position.
Let's hope that Roger has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Aspenia wants to stand and escape but Roger is having none of it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Roger works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Roger stalling.
Roger is keen to just control but Aspenia is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Roger in particular looking to stall.
Roger not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Roger trying to mount his opponent but Aspenia defends it.
Aspenia is refusing to be controlled, as Roger sits in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roger moves nicely into side control.
An elbow from Roger crashes against the mat.
Roger staying calm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger D Roger dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Aspenia throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Roger counters with a one-two to the body.
Roger lands a really nice looking cross but Aspenia seems unphased.
Roger scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Aspenia doesn't seem bothered though.

Aspenia throws a left and a right that both miss

so Roger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Roger is trying to control the action in half guard but Aspenia is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Roger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Roger throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Aspenia is bucking up trying to escape but Roger cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Roger connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Roger cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Roger has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A nice elbow there by Roger.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roger scoring with strikes but Aspenia is staying in there.


Aspenia is rocked!
Aspenia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roger on the ground.
A big strike lands for Roger! That's really hurt Aspenia and he's turned his back - Roger keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Roger jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roger D Roger!
