Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshall Mathers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Armand Helden!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Helden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Helden fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mathers throws a right and a left that both miss.

Helden shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mathers's guard.
Mathers is trying to control the position but Helden postures up.

Helden thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mathers looking to control.
Helden trying to control the position from guard on top but Mathers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Helden tries to free his leg and advance position but Mathers is retaining full guard.
Helden is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Helden slips a jab and a cross from Mathers.
Mathers is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mathers stuffs the takedown attempt from Helden. Helden gets slowly back to his feet.
Mathers wants to clinch up but Helden keeps it at a distance.
Mathers misses with a two punch combination.
Helden looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Marshall Mathers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Armand Helden.
Helden looks gassed!

and Helden counters with a takedown into side control.

Helden thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Mathers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Helden is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mathers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mathers is looking for a sweep.

Helden is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mathers looks calm but he's in trouble here. Helden gets his head over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mathers is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Helden lets go of the hold and Mathers can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Armand Helden!
