PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Hugo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Wiltsie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hugo Jr kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Life in the Fast Lane. The key to victory for Alberto Hugo Jr has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alberto Hugo Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Wiltsie!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hugo Jr tries to clinch up.
Hugo Jr fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Horrible takedown by Hugo Jr or perhaps it was just good defense by Wiltsie which made him look bad.
Hugo Jr wants to clinch.
Hugo Jr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wiltsie but Wiltsie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alberto Hugo Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wiltsie swats away the attempt to clinch by Hugo Jr.
Alberto Hugo Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wiltsie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wiltsie lands in his opponent's guard.
Wiltsie would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Wiltsie decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hugo Jr, up you get!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wiltsie stands up and beckons Hugo Jr to his feet.
Hugo Jr misses with a few strikes there.

Hugo Jr throws a leg kick but Wiltsie moved away.
Hugo Jr wants to clinch but Wiltsie slips to the side

and Wiltsie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hugo Jr's guard now.
Wiltsie is in close to Hugo Jr's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Hugo Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wiltsie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wiltsie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hugo Jr can't keep his opponent in guard - Wiltsie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hugo Jr is on top in guard.

Wiltsie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Wiltsie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wiltsie looking to secure an arm triangle but Hugo Jr defends it well.
Hugo Jr is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wiltsie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hugo Jr is working to get back to half guard.
Wiltsie putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Wiltsie trying to control but Hugo Jr is having none of it.
Hugo Jr bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hugo Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Wiltsie is retaining full guard.
Hugo Jr forces his way into half guard.
Hugo Jr tries to pass to full mount but Wiltsie defends it.

Hugo Jr is working for a submission of some sort.
Wiltsie has hold of Hugo Jr's hands but Hugo Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hugo Jr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wiltsie defends it well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hugo Jr wants to pass the guard but Wiltsie is defending well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hugo Jr connects with a nice short shot to Wiltsie's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Wiltsie dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Wiltsie is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hugo Jr has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Wiltsie is looking to defend but Hugo Jr has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Wiltsie! Hugo Jr pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Wiltsie taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Alberto Hugo Jr!
