The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jovani scores with a takedown into Shoto's guard.
Shoto wants to sweep here but Jovani controlling him for the moment.

Jovani keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shoto's head.

Shoto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jovani gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shoto controls Jovani momentarily but Jovani frees himself.

Shoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jovani can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jovani sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shoto's guard.
Shoto is looking to improve his position.

Shoto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jovani defends well.
Shoto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jovani is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jovani drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Jovani seems to have locked his on tight now - Shoto screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Jovani, as he picks up the win!
