The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Winchester is not content to let Merle control the position.
Merle stops Winchester from getting back to his feet.
Winchester trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Merle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Winchester's head.
Merle throwing shots but Winchester is blocking nicely.
Merle wants to stand up but Winchester is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Merle moves away from the strike by Winchester.
David Winchester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A punch lands to the side of Merle 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Merle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Merle showed some decent athleticism there.
Winchester pushes Merle off looking to stand but Merle dives back in and keeps control.
Merle wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winchester keeps working.
Winchester wants to get back to his feet.
Merle stalling away here and it's allowed Winchester to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Merle stands up from Winchester's guard - Merle perhaps looking for a knockout.

Winchester rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Merle moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Winchester lands with an overhand left.
Merle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Winchester is fending him off so far but Merle persists. Nope, Winchester circles away and we're back to standing.
Winchester lands a body shot.
David Winchester is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Winchester lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Merle tries to move into range but Winchester moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Merle showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Winchester.
