Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Toney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee's entrance music is McGee. A fine choice. Toney has chosen California Love as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Toney!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toney throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mcgee.

Mcgee scores with a takedown into Toney's guard.

Mcgee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Toney looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Toney looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Toney!
Toney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcgee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Mcgee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Toney tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Toney has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mcgee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcgee lands in his opponent's guard.

Mcgee closes the distance and clinches up with Toney, looking for a takedown. Mcgee pushes Toney against the cage but Toney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mcgee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mcgee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Toney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mcgee somewhat.

Toney connects with a jab.

Mcgee drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mcgee postures up in Toney's guard and throws a big left but Toney blocks it.
Toney wants to get back to his feet but Mcgee is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mcgee controls from within his opponent's guard.
Toney wants to stand and escape but Mcgee is having none of it.

Mcgee drops back looking for a leg! Toney is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Toney manages to kick Mcgee off! Mcgee jumps back into Toney's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcgee prevents Toney from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mcgee is defended easily by Toney.
Mcgee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Toney avoids it really well and circles away.
Mcgee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Toney swivels and escapes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A lazy left from Toney finds it's target.
Toney moves into range and connects with a jab.
Toney defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mcgee.
Toney throws a nice looking combination but Mcgee bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Toney looks to land a right hand but Mcgee moved out of range.
Toney stuffs the takedown.
Mcgee moves away from the strike by Toney.
Toney connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mcgee shoots in for a takedown but Toney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mcgee is breathing heavily.
Toney getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Mcgee misses with a combination
and Toney counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mcgee tries a low kick but Toney avoids it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Toney clobbers Mcgee with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mcgee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Toney defends it nicely.
Mcgee takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Toney dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Toney lands a glancing blow to the side of Mcgee's head.

Toney sizes up Mcgee with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Toney swings for the body but Mcgee moves out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Toney is doing well to control the position and prevent Mcgee from advancing to side control.

Toney has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mcgee is working away from the top position though.

Mcgee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Toney does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Toney pushes Mcgee off looking to stand but Mcgee dives back in and keeps control.

Horrible takedown by Mcgee or perhaps it was just good defense by Toney which made him look bad.

Mcgee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Toney as he avoids it easily.
Mcgee tries for a takedown but Toney sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Toney throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James Toney seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Toney throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Mcgee on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Toney lands with a right that hurts Mcgee. Mcgee looks to clinch but Toney throws a short knee that drops Mcgee. This one is all over!
