PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrzej Gach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Moonstick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee Moonstick will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrzej Gach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lee Moonstick!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Gach with that takedown attempt.
Gach chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Moonstick can pounce on him.
Gach tries to move into range but Moonstick moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Moonstick lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gach's sensitive parts.
Gach takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Moonstick moves into the clinch successfully.
Moonstick looking to stall.
Gach looking to slow down the pace here.
Moonstick tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gach avoids it.
Moonstick lands a knee to the head.

A right hook to the body lands for Gach.

Gach lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Moonstick backwards.
Gach has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Moonstick avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Moonstick lands a right hand that snaps the head of Gach backwards.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Gach is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gach shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Moonstick's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Moonstick scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gach is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gach is bucking up trying to escape but Moonstick cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Moonstick is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gach has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Moonstick looking to control but Gach is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Moonstick clinches up with Gach and pushes him back against the cage.
Gach is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Gach has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moonstick is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Gach can't get the takedown.
Moonstick misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gach.
Moonstick is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Moonstick drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gach pulls his leg out and moves away.
Moonstick feints and then cracks Gach's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gach down.

Gach lands with a straight right. Moonstick didn't see that one coming.
Moonstick connects with a high kick.

Gach shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gach showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Moonstick moves into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Moonstick pulls Gach in to control the position.
Moonstick looking for a sweep. Not yet Moonstick, not yet.
Moonstick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gach manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moonstick trying to control the position from guard on top but Gach is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moonstick passes Gach's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Moonstick is looking for a kimura but Gach is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moonstick to get the leverage.
Gach knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moonstick on the ground.

Moonstick looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gach with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Moonstick passes the guard and advances to mount!
Gach is squirming around, avoiding Moonstick's attempts to control the action.
Gach can't escape the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Moonstick can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gach is looking to escape.
Gach tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Moonstick takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gach is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Moonstick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


A decent looking cross lands there for Moonstick.
Moonstick dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gach. That did some damage!

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Gach stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Moonstick.
Moonstick connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A chopping leg kick lands by Moonstick.
Moonstick throws a leg kick which misses Gach's front leg but catches the back leg as Gach tries to avoid it.
Gach circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moonstick lands a high kick!
Moonstick throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lee Moonstick is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gach fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Gach misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Moonstick turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Moonstick chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Moonstick works Gach's body with a nice hook.

Moonstick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Moonstick stands and throws Gach's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Lee Moonstick comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moonstick has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
