Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darnell Klutie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxwell Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smart postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Klutie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smart, into his guard.

Smart throws a strike but Klutie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Smart is looking for a triangle but Klutie pushes his legs off easily.
Klutie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Smart is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Klutie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Smart isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Klutie stacks Smart on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Klutie!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Klutie connects with a nice short shot to Smart's temple.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smart tries to get the hooks in deep but Klutie pushed the leg off.
Klutie is covering up but some of the strikes from Smart are getting through and doing damage.

Smart is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smart is trying hard to land a takedown here. Klutie sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Klutie leaves Smart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smart closes the distance and clinches up with Klutie, looking for a takedown. Smart pushes Klutie against the cage but Klutie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Klutie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smart to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smart shrugs it off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smart misses with a takedown attempt - Klutie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Darnell Klutie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxwell Smart.
Klutie lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smart will feel that in the morning.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smart crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Klutie - the referee stops the clock and Smart gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Klutie. Smart manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
