Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Minota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paolo Abundo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abundo stuffs the takedown attempt from Minota. Minota gets slowly back to his feet.

Minota gets the takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Abundo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Minota is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Abundo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Abundo holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Minota wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abundo keeps working.

Minota is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Abundo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Abundo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Minota wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Minota working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Abundo is trying to control Minota's posture but Minota avoids it.
Abundo is trying to get back to half guard.
Minota prevents Abundo from escaping the position.
Minota has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Minota trying to control but Abundo is having none of it.

Minota is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Abundo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Abundo shrugs it off.

Abundo is looking to get to half guard.
Abundo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Abundo gets back to half guard.
Minota is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Minota is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Minota drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Abundo dives on top into guard.
Minota is trying to control the position but Abundo postures up.

Abundo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Minota looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Abundo passes into side control.
Abundo cracks Minota with a big right hand but Minota just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Minota is not content to let Abundo control the position.
Minota gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Abundo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Minota. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Minota wants to get back to full guard.
Abundo is thwarting Minota's attempts to control the position.
Minota is refusing to be controlled, as Abundo sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joseph Minota dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Abundo moves into range and clinches up with Minota.
Minota is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Abundo decides to pull guard.

Minota drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Minota as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Abundo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Minota! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Joseph Minota!
