The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brites takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Brites is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gonad sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gonad misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gonad throws a head kick that Brites semi-blocks.
Brites thows a body shot but no joy.
Brites shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gonad sprawls well. Gonad wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brites gets slowly back to his feet.
Brites looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gonad is fending him off so far but Brites persists. Nope, Gonad circles away and we're back to standing.
Buster Gonad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Brites.

Gonad throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brites was covering up waiting for the punch and Gonad finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gonad drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brites looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brites looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brites!

Brites is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonad knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brites has hold of Gonad's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gonad seems comfortable defending it but Brites has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gonad is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gonad is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Brites couldn't care less - he's delighted!
