Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Russell Brand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Scholtz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brand's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Russell Brand and Katie Perry. Jan Scholtz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jan Scholtz!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brand fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Scholtz, pushing him back against the ropes.
Scholtz is trying to break the clinch but Brand has him pressed against the ropes.

Scholtz manages to break the clinch.
Brand chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Scholtz can pounce on him.
Scholtz misses with the combination.
Scholtz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brand shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Scholtz sprawls well. Scholtz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brand gets slowly back to his feet.
Brand doesn't manage to clinch there - Scholtz circles away.
Brand tries to close the distance and clinch but Scholtz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Brand closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Scholtz to the mat! Scholtz manages to get full guard.
Brand is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Scholtz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Brand stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Scholtz throws a jab when Brand was well out of range.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A nice inside leg kick there by Scholtz. That's going to slow Brand down.
Scholtz swings for the body but Brand moves out of range.
Brand really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scholtz throws a jab but it's blocked by Brand.

Brand scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Scholtz is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Brand is controlling him well.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Scholtz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Brand has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Brand looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Scholtz is avoiding damage well.
Brand is looking to take a break and control but Scholtz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ground and pound from Brand seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Brand wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Scholtz, who protects the arm well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brand fails to land the takedown.
Brand is breathing heavily.
Scholtz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brand takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Scholtz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Brand on the side of the head.
Brand uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Scholtz.

Brand looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Russell Brand will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Scholtz throws the left hand but Brand avoids the punch easily.
Scholtz scores with a hook.
Brand shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scholtz as he jumps to the side.
Brand on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Scholtz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A looping hook to the body misses from Scholtz. Brand does a little dance to reset his feet.
Scholtz lands with an overhand left.
Scholtz tests Brand's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Brand throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scholtz's waist but Scholtz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brand off to one side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brand takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Scholtz misses with a wild body shot.
Brand takes one to the chin there.
Brand takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Scholtz throws a series of punches but Brand avoids them all with ease.
Brand takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Scholtz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Scholtz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Scholtz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brand looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Scholtz loads up on a big right hand but Brand slips the punch.
Scholtz leaves Brand with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Scholtz darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Brand shoots in for a double leg but Scholtz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Scholtz throws a right and a left that Brand avoids nicely.
Scholtz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Russell Brand is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scholtz loads up on a big right hand but Brand slips the punch.
Brand shoots in but Scholtz avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Brand clinches up with Scholtz and pushes him back against the ropes.
Brand jumps guard but Scholtz stands there with Brand around his waist. Brand gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Scholtz tries to break the clinch but Brand is controlling the position.

Scholtz wants to break the clinch but can't.

Brand has picked Scholtz up - he's going for a ride! Brand dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Scholtz is trying to stand up here but Brand is controlling him well.

Brand tries to pass the half guard into mount. Scholtz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Brand passes to side control.
Scholtz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Brand asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
