PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Louden Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete McGurdy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Louden Swain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete McGurdy!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swain circles away from the clinch attempt.
McGurdy takes one to the side of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Swain misses the target.

McGurdy gets caught flat footed, as Swain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Swain wants to pass the guard but McGurdy is keeping the position.
Swain scoring with punches to the head and body.
Swain content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Swain preventing the sweep.

Swain drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Swain jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
McGurdy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Swain's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGurdy is looking to stand up but Swain won't let him.
Swain looking for a sweep. Not yet Swain, not yet.

Swain is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Swain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McGurdy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Swain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

McGurdy stands up from Swain's guard - McGurdy perhaps looking for a knockout.
Swain throws a jab when McGurdy was well out of range.
Swain misses the shot to the body.
Swain throws a hook but McGurdy avoids it easily.
Swain fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McGurdy is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Swain scores with a punch to the head.
Pete McGurdy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Swain scores with a jab to the head.
Swain connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McGurdy momentarily.
Swain misses with a two punch combination.
Swain throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McGurdy throws a shot from downtown. Swain moves away and avoids it.
McGurdy doesn't manage to clinch there - Swain circles away.
McGurdy tries to clinch but Swain moves out of range.

McGurdy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Swain to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGurdy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Swain lands a couple of elbows.
Swain with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
McGurdy throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Swain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
McGurdy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Swain trying to control the position from guard on top but McGurdy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Swain postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
McGurdy looking for a sweep. Not yet McGurdy, not yet.
Swain makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Swain working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McGurdy's head.
Swain postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
McGurdy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Swain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Swain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Swain connects with a couple of short punches.
McGurdy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Swain is one step ahead there.
Swain advances to half guard.
Ground and pound from Swain.
McGurdy is trying to get back to full guard.
McGurdy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McGurdy.
McGurdy wants to sweep here but Swain controlling him for the moment.
Swain works over McGurdy with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Louden Swain dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


McGurdy tries to close the distance and clinch but Swain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Swain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Swain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Swain connects with a couple of short punches.
McGurdy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Swain passes McGurdy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Swain wants to control but McGurdy is keeping him busy.
McGurdy is trying to get back to full guard.
McGurdy strikes from the bottom but Swain uses the opportunity to move to side control.
McGurdy tries to improve position but can't.
Swain moves into full mount!
McGurdy can't escape the position.
McGurdy is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McGurdy defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Swain.

McGurdy is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Swain locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! McGurdy is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Louden Swain!
