Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kaarlo Koskelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beamer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaarlo Koskelo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jim Beamer!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koskelo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Koskelo showed some decent athleticism there.
Beamer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Koskelo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Beamer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Koskelo manages to avoid it.
Koskelo has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Beamer finds it's way round the side to connect with Koskelo's head.


It looks like Kaarlo Koskelo has been cut.
Donk. Koskelo catches Beamer right on the button with a cross.
Jim Beamer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Koskelo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Koskelo shoots in for a takedown but Beamer shows good takedown defense.
Beamer dodges the punch combination from Koskelo.
The fight stays on the outside here - Koskelo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Koskelo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beamer keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Kaarlo Koskelo will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Koskelo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Beamer slaps away a takedown attempt from Koskelo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Koskelo scores with a one two! Beamer had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Beamer lands a slapping body shot.
Beamer looks to land a right hand but Koskelo moved out of range.

Koskelo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Beamer was covering up waiting for the punch and Koskelo finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Beamer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Koskelo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beamer looking to control but Koskelo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Beamer throws some wild stikes that Koskelo manages to avoid easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Beamer with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Koskelo avoids a strike by Beamer and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Beamer's guard! Fantastic escape!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koskelo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beamer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Beamer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Koskelo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Koskelo shoots for a double leg takedown but Beamer sprawls well. He's pushed Koskelo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Koskelo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Beamer jabs Koskelo right on the nose. Koskelo blinks but takes it well.
Beamer looks to throw the jab but Koskelo is out of range.
Beamer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Koskelo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaarlo Koskelo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beamer goes for an armbar but Koskelo turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Koskelo.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Koskelo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Beamer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Beamer passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Koskelo!
Koskelo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Beamer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

I would just about give that final round to Jim Beamer.
I think Beamer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
