PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between bruce lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Wiggin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, bruce lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Wiggin!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wiggin has managed to clinch.
Wiggin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. lee fights it off and pushes away nicely.
lee clinches but Wiggin breaks the clinch
and Wiggin counters with a slapping leg kick.
lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wiggin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
lee closes the distance looking to clinch

and Wiggin counters with a head kick that drops lee to the mat! lee scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wiggin as he jumps to the side.
Horrible takedown by Wiggin or perhaps it was just good defense by lee which made him look bad.
Wiggin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A combination from lee does no damage.

Wiggin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. lee looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wiggin decides to stand back up.
Wiggin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wiggin shoots in for a takedown but lee shows good takedown defense.
bruce lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Wiggin.
lee swats away the attempt to clinch by Wiggin.
lee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

lee wants to clinch

and Wiggin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in lee's guard now.
Wiggin tries to free his leg and advance position but lee is retaining full guard.

lee is breathing heavily.
Wiggin lands a few punches from side control.
Wiggin tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Wiggin decides to stand back up.

Wiggin shoots in and drives through. lee sprawls well.
lee misses with a takedown attempt

and Wiggin moves into the clinch.

Wiggin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
lee tries to clinch but Wiggin moves away
and Wiggin counters with an outside leg kick.

Wiggin closes the distance and clinches.
Nice elbow from Wiggin.
Wiggin lands an elbow inside that lee shrugs off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wiggin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wiggin tries a head kick but it misses.

Wiggin takes the fight into the clinch.
lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wiggin walks away with a smile on his face. lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Andrew Wiggin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
lee tries to clinch up
and Wiggin counters with a flying knee. Nice.

lee gets caught flat footed, as Wiggin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wiggin controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wiggin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Wiggin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Wiggin landing with the ground and pound.
lee keeping moving, preventing Wiggin from controlling successfully.
lee can't keep his opponent in guard - Wiggin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wiggin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed lee's head.
Wiggin throwing shots but lee is blocking nicely.
Wiggin lands with a punch from half guard.
Wiggin wants to lay and pray for a moment but lee keeps working.
Wiggin working over lee with some ground and pound. lee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wiggin is trying to control the action in half guard but lee is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Wiggin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wiggin working over lee with some ground and pound. lee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Wiggin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wiggin throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
bruce lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wiggin lands a big head kick that sends lee tumbling to the mat! Wiggin takes a step backwards and waves lee back to his feet - he wants the finish!


lee is rocked!
Wiggin tries a head kick but it misses.
Oh lee is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wiggin looks for the body kick but lee saw that one coming.
lee seems to have got his legs back now.
Wiggin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

lee gets caught flat footed, as Wiggin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Wiggin trying to control the position from guard on top but lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wiggin is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wiggin stands up and waves to lee to follow him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wiggin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wiggin showed some decent athleticism there.
Wiggin not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Wiggin tries to pass the half guard into mount. lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Wiggin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wiggin lands a nice elbow.
Wiggin has lee pressed against the cage, preventing lee from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wiggin walks away with a smile on his face. lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Wiggin escapes and gets back to his feet.

Wiggin connects with a nasty looking knee right to lee's face.
Wiggin scores with a knee to the head.

Wiggin pulls lee into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

lee drops back looking for a leg! Wiggin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wiggin manages to kick lee off! lee jumps back into Wiggin's guard.
Andrew Wiggin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wiggin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

lee tries to stand but Wiggin is controlling from the bottom.

Wiggin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. lee is aware though and is defending well.
Wiggin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
lee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Wiggin's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Wiggin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
lee wants to stand but Wiggin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wiggin is adopting a defensive guard.
lee wants to stand but Wiggin is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Wiggin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Wiggin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wiggin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wiggin manages to end up in side control.

lee is trying to escape the position but Wiggin is controlling the position.
Wiggin wants to take a breather but lee manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wiggin.
Wiggin is looking to work some ground and pound but lee has wrist control.

Wiggin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics lee uses from the top position.

lee is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wiggin is just riding it out for now. lee eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wiggin moves into the clinch successfully.
lee has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Wiggin landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Wiggin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wiggin throws a head kick that lee semi-blocks.

Wiggin pushes lee up against the cage in a clinch.

Wiggin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
lee shoots in and drives through. Wiggin sprawls well.
Wiggin throws a head kick that misses.
Andrew Wiggin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wiggin looks for a takedown but lee sprawls well.
Wiggin moves out of range as lee strikes.

Wiggin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of lee's head.

lee clinches up against the cage.
Wiggin with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Wiggin with a knee to the head.

Wiggin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wiggin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wiggin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

bruce lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andrew Wiggin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Wiggin stands up from lee's guard - Wiggin perhaps looking for a knockout.
Wiggin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of lee's head.

Andrew Wiggin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wiggin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
