Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Areeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Humberto Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a shot from downtown. Areeno moves away and avoids it.
Areeno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cruz manages to avoid it.
Areeno slips under a jab.
Areeno throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cruz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cruz moves out of range as Areeno strikes.
Cruz throws a shot from downtown. Areeno moves away and avoids it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cruz. Areeno does a little dance to reset his feet.
Areeno throws a jab but it's blocked by Cruz.
Cruz connects with a body shot.
A clash of legs there as Cruz blocks the low kick.

and Areeno counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Areeno moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Areeno ducks under a wild hook from Cruz.

Areeno scores with a jab. Cruz acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Areeno shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Areeno was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz avoids a series of strikes thrown by Areeno.
Cruz tries to hold on but Areeno pushes him away.
Areeno trying to control but Cruz is having none of it.

Cruz regains half guard.
Areeno throwing shots but Cruz is blocking nicely.
Cruz won't allow Areeno to pass to mount.
Areeno is trying to control. Cruz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Areeno stalling away here and it's allowed Cruz to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Areeno wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.
Cruz striking off his back but it's not causing Areeno any problems.
Areeno looking to sit in guard and control but Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cruz won't allow Areeno to sweep him here.
Cruz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Areeno has Cruz pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Areeno uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruz.
Areeno fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cruz manages to avoid it.

Areeno has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Areeno there as he acknowledges the shot.
Areeno tries to score with a low kick but Cruz moves his leg out of the way.
Areeno lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Humberto Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Areeno moves out of range as Cruz strikes.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Cruz is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Areeno.

Cruz drops Areeno with a beautiful combination! Areeno stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Cruz is looking for the KO!

Areeno is rocked!

It looks like Steve Areeno has been cut.
Cruz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Areeno throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Cruz misses with a straight left.
Areeno misses with a body shot.
Cruz ducks under a wild hook from Areeno.
A jab from Cruz misses.
Areeno takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Areeno shoots for a double leg takedown but Cruz sprawls well. He's pushed Areeno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Areeno connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cruz's hands.

and Areeno takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Areeno fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cruz lands a jab to the head.
A slow jab from Areeno misses its intended target.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Areeno, as that shot connected.
Cruz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Areeno uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cruz.

Areeno takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Oh Areeno is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cruz drops Areeno with a straight right hand, right on the button! Cruz follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
