Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edgars Lusins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Tavaras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Tavaras has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edgars Lusins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Tavaras!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tavaras throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lusins was covering up waiting for the punch and Tavaras finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lusins looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Lusins is looking for a triangle but Tavaras pushes his legs off easily.
Tavaras wanted to stand there but Lusins had control of the position.
Tavaras is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lusins tries to roll over but Tavaras keeps him under control.

Lusins is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tavaras shoots in and bounces Lusins off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Tavaras stands and steps away. Lusins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lusins gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tavaras to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Lusins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tavaras gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tavaras gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Tavaras scores a takedown into full mount!

Tavaras stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Lusins gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Tavaras counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lusins's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tavaras wants to stand but Lusins is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tavaras stands and steps away. Lusins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tavaras looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Tavaras dominated that round.
That's time! Lusins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Tavaras stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lusins to get to his feet.

so Lusins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Tavaras is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tavaras working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lusins doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lusins manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lusins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tavaras looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lusins has picked Tavaras up and slammed him! Tavaras can't keep hold of the triangle and Lusins manages to pass to side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tavaras escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lusins gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Tavaras showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Tavaras gets caught flat footed, as Lusins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Lusins has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Tavaras to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lusins is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Tavaras pulls down on the head and he's put Lusins to sleep! This one is all over!
