PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Storm comes to the cage accompanied by Thunder Strike - ACDC. On his way into the cage it seems that John Storm has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Storm seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Rico!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rico wants it to stay on the feet.
A left lands for Rico.
Storm will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rico misses with a two punch combination.
Rico misses with a jab, cross combination.
Storm scores with a jab to the head.


It looks like Jonny Rico has been cut.
Storm sizes up Rico with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Rico throws a nice looking combination but Storm bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Storm tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rico was well out of range. Poor timing from Storm.

Rico lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rico.
Storm swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Storm takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
John Storm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rico throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Rico, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rico throws a right hand that Storm ducks under and follows up with a left that Storm also avoids with ease.

Storm is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rico's half guard.

Rico makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

so Rico counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Rico is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Storm is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Storm has escaped and now he's on top!

Rico is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rico seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Storm does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rico looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Storm fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rico manages to avoid it.

Horrible takedown by Rico or perhaps it was just good defense by Storm which made him look bad.
Rico looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Rico tries to clinch but Storm is having none of it.
Storm throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rico.

Rico tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Storm paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Storm connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rico. Rico circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Storm stuffs the takedown.
John Storm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Rico.

Rico gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Storm is pressed up against the cage. Rico has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Storm down to the mat. Storm avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rico lands with an uppercut that bounces Storm off the cage and back into rage.
Storm throws a jab but it's blocked by Rico.

Rico throws a right and a left that Storm avoids nicely.
Storm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rico circles away quickly and effectively.

Storm moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Storm shoots in for a takedown but Rico shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rico stuns Storm with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Storm doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rico feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rico is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Storm cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Rico is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Storm lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Storm is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Storm drops a big elbow. That's hurt Rico! More shots from Storm and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
