Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Back Yard Brawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, John Grisham!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brawler is looking to clinch but Grisham is avoiding it.
Grisham fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brawler fails in his attempt to clinch.
Grisham shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brawler as he jumps to the side.
Grisham tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Brawler counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brawler.
Grisham jumps guard but Brawler stands there with Grisham around his waist. Grisham gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Back Yard Brawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Grisham.
Brawler has Grisham pressed against the cage, preventing Grisham from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Brawler gets through Grisham's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Brawler breaks from the clinch.
Grisham keeps the fight on the outside.
Brawler instigates a clinch.
Brawler utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Grisham is pressed up against the cage. Brawler has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Grisham down to the mat. Grisham avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Brawler wants to clinch up but Grisham keeps it at a distance.
Grisham feints and as Brawler raises his hands in defense, Grisham changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Grisham tries to free his leg and advance position but Brawler is retaining full guard.
Brawler pushes Grisham off and gets back to his feet.
Brawler moves into the clinch.
Brawler lands a knee to the head.
Brawler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Grisham fails with the takedown
and Brawler counters with a monster head kick that knocks Grisham out cold! He topples like fallen a tree, crashing to the mat! Timbeeeeeerrr!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Back Yard Brawler!
