PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devon Randlecan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Devon Randlecan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Mann!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randlecan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Randlecan lands a two punch combo.


It looks like John Mann has been cut.
Randlecan throws a right hand that Mann ducks under and follows up with a left that Mann also avoids with ease.
Randlecan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mann sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Randlecan somewhat.
Mann connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

so Randlecan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mann wants to stand and escape but Randlecan is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Randlecan is looking to clinch but Mann is avoiding it.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Randlecan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Randlecan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mann regains guard immediately.
Randlecan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mann is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close second round but I would say that Devon Randlecan will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Randlecan.
Mann tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mann takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Randlecan is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Mann is trying to stick to Randlecan's back but Randlecan is turning into Mann. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mann's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Randlecan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Randlecan connects with a nice short shot to Mann's temple.

Well Randlecan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
