Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Skylor Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Gers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smith might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to God's gonna cut you down. Gers comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Iron Maiden - The Trooper kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Skylor Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Gers!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a series of punches but Gers moves out of range.
Gers fails to land the takedown.
Gers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Skylor Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Gers.
Gers closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Gers pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.

Gers tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gers moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.

and Gers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.
Gers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Smith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

and Gers counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Smith!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gers misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Gers goes for an armbar but Smith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Smith.

Smith is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gers is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Smith stalks Gers and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gers's face. Gers staggers backwards, shaken.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Smith looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Gers blocks an uppercut.
Gers has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
