PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dustin Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Carter!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter stuffs the takedown.

Carter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Graves wants to sweep but no luck.

Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Graves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Graves has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Graves.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Graves closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Graves is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Graves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carter is just riding it out for now. Graves eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Graves's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Graves's back!
Carter doesn't have the hooks in and Graves manages to turn into his guard.
Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Carter is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Graves can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well Carter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
