PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes to the cage accompanied by Muse - Knights of Cydonia. Pierce is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Billy Talent - Devil On My Shoulder. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Angel Pierce!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas misses with a two punch combination.
Pierce moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.
Pierce fails with a takedown attempt.

Thomas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thomas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thomas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Thomas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pierce shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thomas sprawls well. Thomas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pierce gets slowly back to his feet.

Thomas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pierce is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pierce is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Thomas uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pierce has time to react.
Thomas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pierce looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thomas is fending him off so far but Pierce persists. Nope, Thomas circles away and we're back to standing.
Ryan Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Pierce.

Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pierce goes for a takedown attempt but Thomas pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Thomas cracks Pierce with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Thomas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pierce.
The fighters circling - Thomas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Horrible takedown by Pierce or perhaps it was just good defense by Thomas which made him look bad.
Pierce looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pierce postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thomas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pierce, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas doesn't manage to clinch there - Pierce circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for Thomas.
Pierce defending well as Thomas loads up on a big left hand.

Pierce drives through and clinches with Thomas against the cage.
Thomas lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Pierce has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Thomas avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Pierce is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thomas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thomas has escaped and now he's on top!
Thomas wants to control from the top but Pierce keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pierce is breathing heavily.

Pierce is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thomas pulls his head out easily.

Thomas has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Pierce defend it? Thomas steps over the head and cranks it - Pierce is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Thomas!
