PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Boudewijn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boudewijn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Streets - Blinded by the Lights. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boudewijn tries to keep at a distance but Dean has taken the fight into the clinch.
Boudewijn is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Boudewijn stops a takedown attempt from Dean.
Dean is working for takedown but Boudewijn is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dean has Boudewijn pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Boudewijn manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dean fails to pull guard.
Boudewijn wants to break free but Dean has control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dean is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Boudewijn pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Boudewijn wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dean tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Boudewijn smiles and moves away.
Boudewijn throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Dean tries to close the distance and clinch but Boudewijn swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Dean closes this distance looking for a takedown but Boudewijn circles away.
Dean looks for a takedown but Boudewijn sprawls well.
Boudewijn misses with a two punch combination.
A jab from Boudewijn finds it's way through Dean's defenses.
A nice inside leg kick there by Boudewijn. That's going to slow Dean down.
Boudewijn stuffs the takedown attempt from Dean. Dean gets slowly back to his feet.
Dean is breathing heavily.

Boudewijn throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dean.
Dean takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Boudewijn digs a good hook to Dean's body.

Dean fails with a takedown attempt.
Boudewijn moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Boudewijn lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Dean backs up against the cage.
Boudewijn's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Boudewijn duly obliges.
Eddie Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boudewijn shoots in and drives through. Dean sprawls well.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dean crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Boudewijn - the referee stops the clock and Dean gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Boudewijn. Dean manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Dean jumps guard and drags Boudewijn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dean trying to keep a closed guard but Boudewijn is proving a slippery customer.
Boudewijn wants to get up but he can't break Dean's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Dean is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Boudewijn frees his head nicely. Oh but Dean has switched to an armbar! Boudewijn is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
