Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Acme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Azevedo comes to the ring accompanied by I'm a Soldier, I'm a Fighter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Azevedo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Acme!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azevedo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Acme swinging wildly here.
Acme takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Azevedo moves out of range of the strikes.
Acme misses with a body shot.

Azevedo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Acme napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Acme's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Azevedo looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Acme is avoiding damage well.

Azevedo trying to control the position but Acme is working away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Acme can do anything to dispel that myth.
Acme is trying to escape the position but Azevedo is controlling the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Azevedo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Acme for as long as he can get away with.
Azevedo working away.

Azevedo slows the pace down.
Acme stops Azevedo from passing to mount.
Azevedo advances to mount.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Azevedo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Acme turns into him and now he's in Azevedo's guard.
Acme looking to sit in guard and control but Azevedo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Azevedo sizes up Acme with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Acme throws the left hand but Azevedo avoids the punch easily.
Acme moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Acme will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Azevedo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Azevedo gets the takedown into side control.
Acme really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Azevedo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Azevedo advances to full mount.

Acme is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Azevedo controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hugo Azevedo just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
A big right from Acme misses.
Azevedo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Acme counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Azevedo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Acme throws a jab but it's blocked by Azevedo.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Azevedo lunges at Acme with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Acme's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugo Azevedo dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Azevedo scoring well with a low kick there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Acme. Azevedo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Azevedo slips a jab from Acme.

Azevedo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Acme's half guard.
Acme looks like he's trying to stand up.
Azevedo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Acme does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Azevedo uses his free foot to push down on Acme's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Acme.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Azevedo landing strikes from the mount and Acme is in trouble!
Acme is working to get back to half guard.

Acme is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Azevedo controlling from mount.
Acme trying desperately to get to his feet.

Acme is wriggling around trying to escape.
Acme wants to control but Azevedo is having none of it.
Azevedo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Acme is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Azevedo working for a guillotine from mount but Acme is in no mood to give up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Azevedo wants to take Acme's back but he can't do it this time.

That's time! Azevedo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Acme misses with an uppercut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Acme.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Azevedo is defended easily by Acme.
Donk. Acme catches Azevedo right on the button with a cross.
Acme throws a shot from downtown. Azevedo moves away and avoids it.
Acme misses with a looping right.

Acme gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Azevedo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Acme is looking to stand up but Azevedo isn't so interested in that idea.
Azevedo trying to control but Acme is working from the bottom.

Acme is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Acme wants to stand and escape but Azevedo is having none of it.

Azevedo cracks Acme with a solid left hand.
Azevedo is stalling in the full guard.
Acme wants to stand up but Azevedo is controlling him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Azevedo wants to pass the guard but Acme is keeping the position.
Acme keeping moving, preventing Azevedo from controlling successfully.

Acme circles away from the clinch attempt.
Acme keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A chopping leg kick lands by Azevedo.
Acme takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Acme on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Azevedo. Azevedo obviously looking to wear him down.
Azevedo misses with a body shot.
Acme scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Azevedo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Acme.
Acme stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Azevedo.
Nice shot lands for Azevedo.
Azevedo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Azevedo fails with a takedown attempt.
Acme misses with an uppercut.

Acme loads up on a big right hand but Azevedo slips the punch.
Acme moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Azevedo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Acme avoids it really well and circles away.
Acme throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Azevedo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hugo Azevedo is winning the standup battle so far.
Azevedo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hugo Azevedo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Azevedo scores with a jab to the body.

Acme stuffs the takedown.
Azevedo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Acme.
Acme throws an overhand right that lands on Azevedo's shoulder, as Azevedo tries to avoid the shot.
David Acme has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Azevedo is looking to slow Acme down with leg kicks.
A telegraphed right hand from Acme misses the target.
Horrible takedown by Azevedo or perhaps it was just good defense by Acme which made him look bad.
Acme's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Azevedo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Acme.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Acme throws a jab but it's blocked by Azevedo.
Acme throws a hook but Azevedo blocks it.
Acme throws out a loose jab but Azevedo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Azevedo throws a body punch but Acme moves out of range.
Acme misses with a straight left.
Acme has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Azevedo.
Azevedo moves out of range as Acme strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hugo Azevedo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Azevedo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
