Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luis Paz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and adriano beto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). beto has chosen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j4oXUTkn7s as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. adriano beto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
beto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Paz as he jumps to the side.
beto fails with an attempt to clinch.
Paz thumps beto with a low kick.

Paz drives through and clinches with beto against the cage.
beto lands with a short head shot on the inside.

beto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

beto instigates a clinch.
Paz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but beto has him pressed against the cage.

Paz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

beto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. beto showed some decent athleticism there.

beto decides to stand up.
Paz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Paz gets caught flat footed, as beto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Paz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
beto has control of Paz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Paz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

beto shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Paz defends it nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Paz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt beto.
Paz closes this distance looking for a takedown but beto circles away.

beto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Paz to the mat! Paz manages to get full guard.
Paz wants to stand up but beto is controlling him.
beto loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Let's hope that beto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

beto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Paz pulls his leg out and moves away.

Paz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so beto is just riding it out for now. Paz eventually gives up the hold.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

adriano beto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luis Paz.
I think beto has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
