PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Sean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane has chosen Gang of Four - I love a Man in Uniform as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tommy Kane is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Teddy Sean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Kane!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sean misses with a wild combination.
Sean tries to clinch up.

Kane shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sean is trying to defend but Kane finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Sean has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kane is working away from the top position though.
Kane sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sean defending well though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sean has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kane is looking to advance position but Sean won't allow it.

Kane controlling the pace.
Kane is looking to take a break and control but Sean is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, if Kane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ground and pound from Kane.
Kane not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kane sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sean defending well though.
Kane content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kane throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Sean is trying to control but Kane passes into side control!
Kane is trying to ground and pound but Sean uses the momentary lack of control by Kane to regain half guard.

Kane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sean wants to get back to full guard but Kane has mounted him!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kane can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sean is looking to escape.
BOOM! Kane connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kane looking to ground and pound but Sean is blocking nicely.
Kane tries to control but Sean wriggling away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sean wants to control but Kane is having none of it.
Kane won't let Sean get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Kane dominated that round.
That's time! Sean's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kane uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sean.
Sean lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.
Sean misses with a hook.
Kane throws a leg kick but Sean moved away.
Sean misses with a few strikes there.
Kane fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sean is out of range.

Kane drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sean keeping moving, preventing Kane from controlling successfully.
Sean seems keen to control Kane's posture.
Kane trying to control the position from guard on top but Sean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kane won't allow Sean to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kane slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kane trying to control but Sean is working from the bottom.
Kane thows a big elbow that misses.
Kane with a flurry of punches that miss.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sean missing with a left hand there. Kane was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kane throws a head kick that misses.
Sean displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kane.
Sean swings for the body but Kane moves out of range.
Sean pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kane swats away the attempt to clinch by Sean.
Kane goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sean looks to score with a jab to the body but Kane is just out of range.
The fighters circling - Sean throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Sean throws out a loose jab but Kane uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sean is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Kane's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Kane fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kane misses with a wild combination.
Kane displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sean throws out the jab.
Kane misses with a looping right.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kane misses with a few strikes there.
Kane throws a right and a left that Sean avoids nicely.
Sean throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sean fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sean falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kane counters with a nice uppercut.

Kane drives through and clinches with Sean against the cage.
Kane misses with some punches.
Sean taking a breather.
Sean avoids the elbow strike from Kane, against the cage.

Kane gets control of Sean's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kane will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Kane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sean's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kane wants to control from the top but Sean keeps moving.
Kane sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Kane looking to pass the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Kane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kane takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sean swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Kane counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sean's guard now.
Kane wants to pass the guard but Sean is keeping the position.
Sean is trying to keep Kane in close.
Kane trying to control but Sean is working from the bottom.
Sean controls Kane momentarily but Kane frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kane controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kane tries to free his leg and advance position but Sean is retaining full guard.
Sean trying to keep a closed guard but Kane is proving a slippery customer.
Kane is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kane connects with a jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kane is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sean has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sean manages to get back to half guard.
Sean gets full guard.
Sean is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kane seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kane tries to free his leg and advance position but Sean is retaining full guard.
Sean utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kane sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sean's guard.
Kane performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Sean is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.
Teddy Sean has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kane is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Tommy Kane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Sean is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kane is looking for a kimura here.
Sean is trying to maintain the position but Kane is very close to passing his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tommy Kane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
