PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marek Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Skywalker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anton Skywalker told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marek Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anton Skywalker!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter tries to clinch up.

Skywalker drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Skywalker won't allow Hunter to sweep him here.

Skywalker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hunter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Skywalker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Skywalker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Skywalker sprawls well. Skywalker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hunter gets slowly back to his feet.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up with Skywalker, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes Skywalker against the ropes but Skywalker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Skywalker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Skywalker wants it to stay on the feet.

Hunter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hunter throws an overhand right that lands on Skywalker's shoulder, as Skywalker tries to avoid the shot.
Hunter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hunter loads up on a big right hand but Skywalker slips the punch.
Skywalker scores with a kick to the body.
Hunter takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Skywalker rushes Hunter and presses him up against the ropes.
Hunter has a couple of punches blocked by Skywalker.
Hunter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Skywalker is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Skywalker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hunter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Hunter is trying to drag Skywalker to the mat but Skywalker just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Skywalker gets underhooks to prevent Hunter's takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Anton Skywalker will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Skywalker throws a leg kick which misses Hunter's front leg but catches the back leg as Hunter tries to avoid it.
Skywalker goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

and Skywalker counters with a straight right hand.

Hunter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Skywalker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hunter is working for takedown but Skywalker is calmly controlling the position for now.

Skywalker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

No joy there for Hunter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Skywalker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hunter is looking to escape.

Hunter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Skywalker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hunter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hunter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Anton Skywalker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Skywalker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hunter as he jumps to the side.
Marek Hunter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Skywalker.
Skywalker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hunter scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

It looks like Anton Skywalker has been cut.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skywalker but Skywalker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Skywalker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hunter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Skywalker avoids it really well and circles away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Skywalker takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hunter is defended easily by Skywalker.
Skywalker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hunter.
Skywalker keeps the fight on the outside.
Skywalker throws a push kick but Hunter slaps the foot to one side.
Hunter looks to throw the jab but Skywalker is out of range.
No luck for Hunter with that takedown attempt.

and Skywalker counters with a head kick. That will keep Hunter thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Hunter really wants to buck Skywalker off and get back to his feet.

Skywalker wants to control the pace but Hunter is squirming around nicely.
Hunter tries to lock up and control but Skywalker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Anton Skywalker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to Anton Skywalker.
