Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Badr White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Never Can Say Goodbye as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Badr White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson is trying hard to land a takedown here. White sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

White lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
White throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Nelson's head.
Nelson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from White.
White changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but White manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Roy Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White has his foot on Nelson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nelson works his way back into a safe position though.

White throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nelson escapes and throws White's legs to the side, diving into side control!
White is looking to regain half guard here but Nelson keeps moving and retains side control.

I looks like Nelson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Roy Nelson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
White has his takedown stuffed

and Nelson counters with a shoot takedown. White fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Badr White. That's going to take a lot out of him.

White escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nelson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

White working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nelson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

White looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nelson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

White shoots for a double leg takedown but Nelson sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Nelson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
White wants to improve his position but Nelson is controlling well.
Well, if Nelson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Let's hope that Nelson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

White tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control.
White moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nelson has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.

White is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nelson defends well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

White manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
White wants to pass to mount but Nelson is defending the position.
White is just content to waste time from the top position. Nelson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

White postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Roy Nelson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! White's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

White lands with a slapping head kick.
White shoots in but no luck this time.
White throws a nice outside leg kick.
Nelson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nelson off to one side.
White lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from White, right into the meat.
White moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
White thows a body kick. Nelson tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Nelson takes a kick to the side of the head.
The fight stays on the outside here - White looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nelson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
White throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Nelson's head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
White scores with a nice body kick.
White throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
White shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. White gets slowly back to his feet.

Nelson keeps the fight on the outside.
White lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

White pushes a forearm under Nelson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Nelson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
