Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Shlemenko!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jay looks for a takedown but Shlemenko sprawls well.

Shlemenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jay tries to land knees in the clinch but Shlemenko avoids the damage to the body.

and Shlemenko counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jay is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Shlemenko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jay defends it nicely.

Shlemenko misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Shlemenko counters with a series of strikes. Jay will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Shlemenko counters with a shoot takedown. Jay fights it but they end up in guard.

Shlemenko avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shlemenko wants to get up but he can't break Jay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Shlemenko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Shlemenko counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Shlemenko.
Jay has Shlemenko pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Shlemenko manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Shlemenko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jay takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Shlemenko fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jay.

Shlemenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shlemenko throws a leg kick which misses Jay's front leg but catches the back leg as Jay tries to avoid it.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Shlemenko. Jay shrugs it off though.

Shlemenko has closed the distance and engaged Jay in a clinch.
Jay wants a takedown but no success here.
Shlemenko lands an elbow inside that Jay shrugs off.

Shlemenko breaks from the clinch.

Shlemenko drives through and clinches with Jay against the ropes.
Jay goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shlemenko prevents it.

Shlemenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shlemenko lands a head kick!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jay crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shlemenko - the referee stops the clock and Jay gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shlemenko. Jay manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Shlemenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Shlemenko misses with a series of wild punches.
Leo Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Shlemenko counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jay is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Shlemenko scores with a one two! Jay had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


Jay is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shlemenko drives through and clinches with Jay against the ropes.
Oh Jay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Shlemenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shlemenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shlemenko lands with a straight right. Jay didn't see that one coming.
Shlemenko lands with a big left! Jay is wobbled badly! Shlemenko comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Jay to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alexander Shlemenko!
