Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luis Helguera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shannon Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shannon Bailey is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Shannon Bailey!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey shoots in and drives through. Helguera sprawls well.

Helguera drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Helguera thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bailey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Helguera is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bailey throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bailey is trying to control the position but Helguera postures up.
Bailey is looking to stand up but Helguera isn't so interested in that idea.

Helguera drops back looking for a leg! Bailey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bailey manages to kick Helguera off! Helguera jumps back into Bailey's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bailey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Helguera.

Helguera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Helguera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Helguera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Helguera is breathing heavily.
Bailey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Helguera manages to get himself to full guard.

Helguera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bailey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Helguera has his foot on Bailey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bailey works his way back into a safe position though.
Bailey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bailey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Helguera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Helguera in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Bailey tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Helguera!
