PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Macho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tetsu Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hector Macho could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tetsu Suzuki's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hector Macho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tetsu Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macho shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Suzuki is trying to stand.

Suzuki wants to get back to his feet.
Macho looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Suzuki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Macho stops Suzuki from getting back to his feet.
Suzuki tries to roll over but Macho keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macho wants to work for an arm triangle but Suzuki is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Suzuki is trying to stand back up but Macho is controlling him
Macho thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Suzuki's head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Macho lands a nice short elbow.
Suzuki pushes Macho off looking to stand but Macho dives back in and keeps control.

Macho frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Suzuki can do anything to dispel that myth.

Macho looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suzuki is bucking up trying to escape but Macho cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Suzuki is in a horrible position here. Macho smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Suzuki defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Macho.
Suzuki is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Macho misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Suzuki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Macho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Macho is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Suzuki can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Macho with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Macho jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Suzuki manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Macho is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Suzuki has escaped the position, nice work there.
Suzuki looking for a sweep but Macho has passed into full mount! Oh no!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector Macho dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Suzuki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Macho paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Suzuki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Macho sprawls well initially but Suzuki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Suzuki is trying to control. Macho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Macho gets back to full guard.
Macho keeping moving, preventing Suzuki from controlling successfully.
Macho controls Suzuki momentarily but Suzuki frees himself.
Suzuki thows a big elbow that misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Macho bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Suzuki's guard.

Macho is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hector Macho overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Macho throwing strikes but missing.
Macho postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Macho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Suzuki's guard.
Suzuki is not content to let Macho control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Macho in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Suzuki tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Macho!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hector Macho!
