The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McConnely throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McConnely tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McConnely, right into the meat.

Mupussa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Mupussa moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from McConnely.
McConnely is looking for a sweep.
Mupussa controlling the position from side mount.
McConnely is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
McConnely manages to get back to half guard.

Still in half guard, Mupussa seems content to control.
The fighters are battling for position here. McConnely manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
McConnely throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Mupussa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mupussa prevents McConnely from getting back to his feet.
McConnely bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mupussa's guard.
Mupussa looks gassed!

McConnely wants to control from the top but Mupussa keeps moving.
Mupussa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mupussa has a closed guard, preventing McConnely from standing up.
Mupussa has McConnely pulled in close to control his posture.

McConnely wants to get up but he can't break Mupussa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mupussa dives in and grabs McConnely's left leg, looking for a takedown. McConnely pushes down on Mupussa's head and hops out.
McConnely punishes Mupussa's body with a nice straight punch.
A kick lands to the mid section there for McConnely.
McConnely fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mupussa takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McConnely tries to bum rush Mupussa with a series of wild strikes but Mupussa uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McConnely shoots in but Mupussa avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McConnely dips to his left and cracks Mupussa with an uppercut!
Mupussa blocks a head kick by McConnely.
McConnely lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McConnely with a poor takedown

and Mupussa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McConnely!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zack McConnely. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McConnely sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Mupussa tries to pass the half guard into mount. McConnely knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McConnely works his way to full guard. Good work.

McConnely misses with a two punch combination.

Mupussa clinches.
Mupussa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McConnely's efforts to push away.
Mupussa keeps control of McConnely as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mupussa drops down looking for an ankle pick but McConnely pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from McConnely as Mupussa shoots in.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McConnely moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A head kick from McConnely lands but Mupussa takes it in his stride.

McConnely lands a big head kick that sends Mupussa tumbling to the mat! McConnely takes a step backwards and waves Mupussa back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Mupussa is rocked!

It looks like Pena Mupussa has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A big right followed by a crushing left from McConnely knocks Mupussa out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
