Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonah Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Alb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alb has chosen Sandstorm as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alb misses the shot to the body.
Alb throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alb to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Alb tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Alb's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Alb has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Alb's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Alb controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alb in particular looking to stall.

Alb looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alb looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ryan Alb.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Smith. Alb shrugs it off though.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Smith wants to land a leg kick but Alb is out of range.
Jonah Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alb on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Alb's calf.
Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Alb is just out of range.

Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Smith misses with a low kick as Alb jumps back.
Smith throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Smith throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alb.
Alb lands a nice shot to the body.

Alb looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Smith!
Alb breaks from Smith's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Alb looking for a guillotine from mount but Smith is having none of it.
Alb misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Alb looking to secure an arm triangle but Smith defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alb takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Alb trying to control but Smith is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alb seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Smith is holding on tight.
Alb controlling from mount.

Alb working for a submission but Smith is keeping him at bay.

Smith is controlling an arm, preventing Alb from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Some bone on bone action there as Alb checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Alb moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Alb connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Alb moves out of range easily.
Smith takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Alb shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
