Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cooper King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Stinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barney Stinson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barney Stinson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stinson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
Stinson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King circles away from the clinch attempt.
Stinson throws a nice looking combination but King bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Stinson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Cooper King has been cut.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stinson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Stinson is pressed up against the cage. King has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stinson down to the mat. Stinson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
King takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Stinson looks to land a combination. King sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

and King counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stinson won't be happy with that.

King is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stinson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

King wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stinson, who protects the arm well.

Barney Stinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and King counters by moving into the clinch.
King with an attempt at a knee that misses.
King tries for a takedown but Stinson manages to get underhooks.
King tries to pull guard but Stinson holds him up against the cage and eventually King drops back down to his feet.

Stinson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King has control of Stinson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stinson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Stinson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
