And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacques Rougeau!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rougeau keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Negrete wants to clinch.
Negrete is looking to clinch but Rougeau is avoiding it.
A combination from Rougeau does no damage.
Rougeau throws a right and a left that Negrete avoids nicely.
Rougeau throws a right hand that Negrete ducks under and follows up with a left that Negrete also avoids with ease.
Negrete will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pepe Negrete seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Negrete throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rougeau's waist but Rougeau gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Negrete off to one side.

Rougeau tries to bum rush Negrete with a series of wild strikes but Negrete uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Negrete ducks right into an uppercut from Rougeau.

Rougeau misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rougeau throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Negrete.
Rougeau is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Negrete had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Negrete moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Negrete bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rougeau can do anything to dispel that myth.
Negrete working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Negrete moves into full mount!
Negrete landing strikes from the mount and Rougeau is in trouble!

Rougeau trying desperately to get to his feet.
Negrete raining down shots from the mount!
Negrete looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rougeau is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Negrete cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Negrete pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Negrete lands a nice shot to the head.
Negrete with a couple of short strikes.
Negrete is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Negrete is landing with some decent strikes but Rougeau is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Negrete working for a submission but Rougeau is keeping him at bay.
Negrete controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Negrete uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rougeau.
Rougeau is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Negrete fails with the takedown.
Negrete takes one to the side of the head.

Negrete shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Negrete was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Negrete looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Rougeau squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Negrete has hold of Rougeau's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rougeau manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
You get the feeling that Rougeau really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Negrete trying to control but Rougeau is having none of it.
Rougeau is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Negrete is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Poor strikes thrown by Negrete there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The referee warns Rougeau that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rougeau is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Rougeau is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Negrete cracks Rougeau with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
