Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirosvaldo Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Tyler has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mirosvaldo Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karelin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Karelin showed some decent athleticism there.
Tyler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Karelin is working away from the top position though.
Tyler moves into full guard.
Tyler keeping moving, preventing Karelin from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karelin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Karelin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tyler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tyler is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tyler looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Tyler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Karelin sees it coming and defends easily.
Karelin manages to get to full guard.
Tyler wants to control from the top but Karelin keeps moving.

Karelin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tyler is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Karelin.

Tyler has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Tyler is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Karelin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Tyler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Karelin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tyler is working away from the top position though.

Tyler wants to take a breather but Karelin is having none of it.

and Karelin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tyler's guard now.
Tyler wants to stand up but Karelin is controlling him.

Karelin is fighting to break Tyler's control of his arms but Tyler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Karelin looking to sit in guard and control but Tyler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Karelin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Karelin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tyler is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Karelin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Karelin throws a sloppy strike and Tyler uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Tyler has ended up in Karelin's guard.

Karelin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tyler manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Karelin has Tyler in his guard.

Karelin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tyler is aware though and is defending well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Tyler tries to close the distance and clinch but Karelin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Karelin dives in and grabs Tyler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tyler pushes down on Karelin's head and hops out.
Karelin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tyler tries to avoid it but Karelin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tyler to the ground. Tyler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Karelin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Karelin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tyler kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well Tyler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
