PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anders Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mamuh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Angel. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anders Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Mamuh!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamuh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Anderson takes one to the side of the head.


It looks like Anders Anderson has been cut.
Mamuh tries to clinch but Anderson moves out of range.
Anderson swats away the attempt to clinch by Mamuh.
Mamuh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively.
Mamuh throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Anderson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mamuh swivels and escapes.
Mamuh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Anderson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mamuh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mamuh tries to clinch up.
Mamuh doesn't manage to clinch there - Anderson circles away.
Mamuh moves in looking to clinch but Anderson pushes him off.
Mamuh misses with a series of wild punches.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown but Mamuh shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Joe Mamuh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A combination from Mamuh does no damage.
Anderson shoots in and drives through. Mamuh sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anders Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mamuh tries to clinch but Anderson is having none of it.
Mamuh stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mamuh wants it to stay on the feet.
Mamuh stalks Anderson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Anderson's face. Anderson staggers backwards, shaken.
Mamuh looks gassed!

Anderson rushes Mamuh and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Anderson is trying to break the clinch but Mamuh has him pressed against the cage.
Anderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mamuh gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mamuh breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Anderson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Anderson shoots in and drives through. Mamuh sprawls well.
Mamuh tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Anderson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Anderson wants to work for an arm triangle but Mamuh is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mamuh is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anderson pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anderson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Anderson trying to control from half guard but Mamuh is working away.
Anderson prevents Mamuh from standing back up.
Anderson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mamuh does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Anderson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mamuh is just riding it out for now. Anderson eventually gives up the hold.
Anderson wants to control but Mamuh is keeping him busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mamuh leaves Anderson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Anderson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mamuh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Anderson somewhat.
Mamuh closes the distance but Anderson moves to the side
and Anderson counters with a left and a right that stings Mamuh.
Anderson circles away from the clinch attempt

and Anderson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Anderson.
Anderson passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Anderson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mamuh is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Anderson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mamuh knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Anderson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mamuh has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Mamuh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Mamuh will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Anders Anderson's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mamuh tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Anderson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mamuh!
Anderson content just to control the position here.

Anderson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mamuh turns into him and now he's in Anderson's guard.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Mamuh isn't so interested in that idea.
Mamuh is breathing heavily.

Anderson striking off his back but it's not causing Mamuh any problems.
Mamuh trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson wants to stand up but Mamuh is controlling him.
Mamuh wants to stand and escape but instead Anderson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Mamuh is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mamuh misses with a double jab
and Anderson counters with a two punch combo.
Mamuh throws a combination that misses

and Anderson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Mamuh is defending against the submission attempts here by Anderson.

Anderson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Anderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mamuh keeps working.

Mamuh swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Anderson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mamuh's guard.
Anderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Anders Anderson.
Mamuh tries to clinch up
and Anderson counters with a three punch combo that has Mamuh backing up. Mamuh nods at Anderson to acknowledge the strikes.
Anderson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mamuh pinned against the cage. Mamuh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mamuh as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anders Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Anderson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mamuh, pushing him back against the cage.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Mamuh in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Mamuh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mamuh gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mamuh is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Anderson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Anderson is trying to trip Mamuh. He has hold of a leg but Mamuh is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Anderson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Mamuh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.
Mamuh keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully.
Mamuh is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up.
Anderson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mamuh wants to stand up but Anderson is controlling him.

and Anderson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Anderson.

Anders Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Anderson drops back looking for a leg! Mamuh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mamuh manages to kick Anderson off! Anderson jumps back into Mamuh's guard.

Anders Anderson showed his dominance in that final round.
