The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Williams lands in his opponent's guard.

Williams drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but St pierre manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Williams has St pierre in his guard.
St pierre will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Williams looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! St pierre has picked Williams up and slammed him! Williams can't keep hold of the triangle and St pierre manages to pass to side control!
St pierre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Williams is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

St pierre is looking for a kimura but Williams is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for St pierre to get the leverage.
St pierre content to control rather than advance.

St pierre wants to work for an arm triangle but Williams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

St pierre throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams wants to improve his position but St pierre is controlling well.
St pierre is thwarting Williams's attempts to control the position.

Williams has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. St pierre is working away from the top position though.
St pierre wants to free his trapped foot but Williams is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
St pierre is thwarting Williams's attempts to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Williams has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
St pierre has his takedown stuffed

so Williams counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
St pierre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Williams manages to get himself to full guard.

Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with St pierre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Williams throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! St pierre escapes and throws Williams's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Williams tries to bench press St pierre off him but St pierre keeps the position.
St pierre wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.
