Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Big (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Big!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Big moves out of range of the leg kick from Carwin.
Carwin closes the distance and clinches up with Big, looking for a takedown. Carwin pushes Big against the cage but Big circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Big. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Big.

Big has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carwin uses from the top position.

Big pushes Carwin off and scrambles back to his feet.
Big stuffs the takedown attempt from Carwin. Carwin gets slowly back to his feet.

Big darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Big wants to take a breather but Carwin is having none of it.
It looks like Big is going to stand back up.

Big is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carwin is looking to control Big's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carwin avoid being mounted?
Big seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Carwin is staying active underneath Big, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Carwin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Big pulls his head out easily.
Carwin tries to get to full guard but Big has control of the leg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carwin throws a solid leg kick but Big takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Carwin.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Big takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Big really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carwin tries to roll over but Big keeps him under control.
Carwin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Big.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Big counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Big looks gassed!

Carwin throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Carwin looking for a sweep. Not yet Carwin, not yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Big accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Big trying to control but Carwin is working from the bottom.
Carwin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Carwin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Big can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Big dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Big shoots in for a takedown but Carwin shows good takedown defense.

and Big holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Carwin wants to control from the top but Big keeps moving.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carwin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Big looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Big looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Big!
Big controls the position.
Carwin manages to get back to half guard.
Big is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Big working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Carwin's thigh. Carwin counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Big is breathing heavily.
Big postures up.
Big trying to control the position from guard on top but Carwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Big preventing the sweep.
Big is pushing down on Carwin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carwin is fighting to maintain full guard but Big has managed to sneak the leg through.
Big wants to control but Carwin is keeping him busy.
Big looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Carwin moves into full guard.
Big missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Big must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Carwin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Carwin tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Big.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Big. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Carwin is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Big is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shane Carwin!
