Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlson comes to the cage accompanied by The Message. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Turner!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlson clinches up against the cage.
Carlson lands with a light punch inside.

Turner manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Carlson sitting in guard here, content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turner is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turner is on top in guard.
Turner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Carlson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Turner stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Turner has closed the distance and engaged Carlson in a clinch.

Turner manages to break the clinch.

Carlson has Turner up against the cage in a clinch.
Carlson swings wildly with an uppercut but Turner uses good head movement to avoid it.

Carlson prevents the takedown attempt.
Carlson tries to land knees in the clinch but Turner avoids the damage to the body.
Carlson is leaning against Turner and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Turner manages to break the clinch.
Turner tries to clinch but Carlson is having none of it.
Turner misses with a takedown attempt - Carlson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Turner shoots in for a takedown but Carlson shows good takedown defense.
Barry Carlson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Turner.

Turner takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like James Turner has been cut.
Carlson misses with a low kick.
Carlson throws a head kick that misses.
Turner tries to clinch up but Carlson circles away and keeps his distance.
Carlson moves in looking to clinch but Turner pushes him off.
Turner bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Turner clinches up with Carlson and pushes him back against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Turner.

Turner breaks from the clinch.

Turner drives through with a takedown into guard.
Turner postures up.
Carlson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Turner won't allow Carlson to sweep him here.
Turner is looking to stand up but Carlson won't let him.
Turner looks gassed!

Carlson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Carlson wants to get back to his feet but Turner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carlson is on top in guard.

Turner looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carlson is looking to advance position but Turner has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Turner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Carlson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Carlson tries to reverse the position but Turner maintains control.
Turner working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Carlson is squirming around, avoiding Turner's attempts to control the action.
Carlson wants to control but Turner is having none of it.
Carlson is desperately trying to improve his position but Turner has a good base and remains in mount.
Carlson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Turner looking to control but Carlson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carlson is in a horrible position here. Turner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Carlson can't escape the position.
Turner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carlson's face.
Turner scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Turner lands a nice shot to the head.
Carlson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Turner prevents Carlson from getting the reversal.
Turner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carlson tries to clinch

and Turner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carlson's guard.
Turner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Carlson's head.
Carlson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Turner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Turner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Carlson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Turner is looking to escape.

Turner bucks up and throws Carlson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Carlson moves out of range as Turner throws a body kick.

James Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carlson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Turner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Carlson wants to get back to his feet but Turner drags him back down.
Carlson tries to bench press Turner off him but Turner keeps the position.
Turner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carlson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Barry Carlson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Turner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carlson has hold of Turner's hands but Turner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carlson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Carlson is refusing to be controlled, as Turner sits in half guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Carlson is really struggling to control Turner but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Carlson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Carlson wants to control from the top but Turner keeps moving.

James Turner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Turner winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
