Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orlando Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan Mcgrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orlando Melendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgrath is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Melendez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcgrath but Mcgrath pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Melendez avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mcgrath really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Melendez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mcgrath is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mcgrath has escaped and now he's on top!

Mcgrath decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Melendez, up you get!

Mcgrath rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Melendez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dylan Mcgrath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Melendez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Mcgrath has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Melendez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Melendez closes the distance and clinches up with Mcgrath, looking for a takedown. Melendez pushes Mcgrath against the cage but Mcgrath circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mcgrath looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mcgrath lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Melendez circles away quickly and effectively.
Mcgrath looks to land a combination but Melendez avoids it well.
Melendez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mcgrath.
Mcgrath throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mcgrath looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mcgrath's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Melendez has hold of Mcgrath's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mcgrath manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Melendez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mcgrath is now in Melendez's guard. A big mistake from Melendez there, giving up the dominant position!

Dylan Mcgrath is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Orlando Melendez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Melendez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Melendez has his foot on Mcgrath's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcgrath works his way back into a safe position though.

Melendez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcgrath is aware though and is defending well.
Mcgrath wants to get up but he can't break Melendez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
